Jeff
Jeff is a true country gentleman at heart. He loves westerns and western-based T.V. shows, as well as country music. He even has his own music studio to sing and record his favorite tunes. Needless to say, Jeff's DVD, video, and CD collection is more than impressive.
Jeff is always on the go. He keeps busy during the week working at Boone Center. In addition, Jeff participates in Community Living's Recreation Services activities on a weekly basis and makes time for church and his girlfriend, Elizabeth. Marti, Jeff's sister and guardian, almost has to catch her breath as she explains all the activities he has done and is scheduled to do. Jeff just smiles and gives her a hug.
Jeff has been using Community Living's Respite Services since Marti and her husband, Ken, began caring for him in 2000. She and her husband own their own business and have to travel, so the Respite Care Home provides them a place for Jeff to stay and peace of mind knowing that he will be safe and comfortable. Community Living's Respite Services became even more necessary for them during this past year when their family encountered illnesses and other emergencies.
"A place like Respite is really needed for families," says Marti. "I can't say enough good things. The staff has helped us so much, and they treat Jeff so well when he's there."
Jeff enjoys his stays at the Respite Care Home, especially the biscuits and gravy the staff prepare on Saturday mornings and taking advantage of the time to catch up on watching his favorite westerns. However, he is hardly idle. "Jeff is a doll and is always helping others when he is here," says Pam Keys, director of Respite Services. "He even helps the staff run errands and clean up around the facility."
